CHEBOYGAN – Cross country season is here.

Sammy Harke, Junior – Earned All-Straits Area Conference first team honors as a sophomore last fall. Following an excellent track campaign last spring, Harke will be poised to register a big junior season.

Chloe Rupp, Freshman – Following Harke would be a talented group of Cheboygan freshmen, including Rupp, who earned SAC middle school honors last year. Could be one who steps right in and challenges for SAC accolades.

Bella Hingston, Freshman – Another talented young runner who joined Rupp as an SAC first team honoree at the middle school level. Her debut on varsity provides Cheboygan with depth and quality.

Briahna Campbell, Freshman – As an eighth grader, Rupp, Hingston and Campbell made the SAC first team. Now on varsity, Campbell gives the Chiefs a strong freshmen core.

INLAND LAKES BULLDOGS

Elizabeth Furman, Freshman – Consistent over the summer when it came to her mileage and training, Furman broke the Inland Lakes mile record during an exceptional middle school career. Should make an early impact.

Maggie Newman, Freshman – A hard-working and dedicated runner who was also a consistent cross country and track performer in middle school. Both Newman and Furman are making big jumps to the high school level.

MACKINAW CITY COMETS

Cynthia Thompson, Sophomore – Has been running since sixth grade, so she’ll have plenty of experience on her side. Hopes to have success in the conference meets.

ONAWAY CARDINALS

Ellie Crull, Junior – After picking up All-Ski Valley accolades as a sophomore, Crull will look to do even better during her junior season.
