The Wisconsin men's hockey team is back in the NCAA Tournament Friday with a regional semifinal in Providence, Rhode Island, against defending national champion Quinnipiac.
The Badgers (26-11-2), seeded second in the regional and eighth overall, are in the tournament for the first time since 2021. A year after finishing last in the Big Ten and 13-23-0 overall, Wisconsin was second in the Big Ten regular season under first-year coach Mike Hastings, though it lost to Ohio State in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament.
The Badgers are led by Big Ten Goaltender of the Year Kyle McClellan, who's a finalist for both the Mike Richter Award, given to the top Division I goaltender, and the Hobey Baker Memorial Award, given to the top men's college hockey player.
If Wisconsin defeats Quinnipiac (26-9-2), seeded third in the region and ninth overall, it'll face the winner between top-seeded Boston College and fourth-seeded Michigan Tech at 3 p.m. Sunday, also in Providence.
