Louisville and Bellarmine have played in each of the past three seasons, but this time will be admittedly strange for Cardinals coach Jeff Walz.
He'll have to look down the side of the court and see a familiar face in former Cardinals standout Mo Reid, who is now on the Knights' coaching staff. Reid began her coaching career this season after retiring from playing basketball professionally and will coach against Louisville when the Cardinals and Bellarmine face off at 7 p.m. Thursday at the KFC Yum! Center.
Reid played for Walz and was part of two Final Four teams at Louisville. The 2012-13 team was honored earlier this year for the 10th anniversary of its Final Four run, which included an upset over defending champion Baylor in the Sweet 16.
Reid was also inducted into Louisville's Athletics Hall of Fame in October.
"Mo did so many wonderful things for us here and was the only player we've had that's been a part of two Final Fours, which is something special," Walz said. "So, just really looking forward to that ballgame."
