The Florida State baseball team is off to a hot start this season. But today the Seminoles face their first big test: the rival Florida Gators.
FSU and UF are scheduled to play three games across the 2024 season. The first is in Gainesville, with Game 2 later this month in Jacksonville and the finale April 9 at Mike Martin Field at Dick Howser Stadium.
FSU rose into the rankings off the strength of an 11-0 start in head coach Link Jarrett's second season in Tallahassee. Sophomore third baseman Cam Smith hit .500 in that stretch, with junior slugger James Tibbs III belting six home runs. Sophomore lefty Jamie Arnold has paced the pitching staff, allowing just one unearned run in his first three starts with 27 strikeouts.

Florida has seen some early hiccups but still looks like a College World Series contender under coach Kevin O'Sullivan. The Gators are led by two-way star Jac Caglianone, who is on the Golden Spikes Award watch list. Through Florida's first 12 games, the junior batted .480 with a 1.359 OPS, five home runs and 15 RBIs, and he had a 3.00 ERA in his first two starts pitching.
