Restless Gators explode out in Auburn
After receiving a double bye and seeing their game postponed Thursday, the Gators didn't take the field for the first time in Auburn until late Friday morning, one of the last to go.
All that pent up energy came out at the right time for UF, especially at the plate.
Florida played 15 runs in its two wins Friday — Quarterfinals over No. 7 seed Georgia and Semifinals over No. 3 seed Texas A&M.
2023 SEC Player of the Year Skylar Wallace hit home runs in both games and drove in six RBIs. 2024 SEC POY Jocelyn Erickson hit one long ball of her own and drove in five runs.
In the circle, coach Tim Walton handed the ball to Keegan Rothrock in both games. The freshman showed poise well beyond her years. She went a total of 12 2/3 innings, allowing five earned runs and striking out eight.
Fifth-seeded Missouri is off to a 3-0 start in Auburn. It hung on to defeat Ole Miss 3-1, endured an overnight lightning delay to beat Arkansas by the same score. It advanced to the final with a 2-1 eight inning win over a pesky eighth-seeded LSU squad.
The Tigers did take two out of three from Florida in Columbia April 12-14; UF's only SEC series loss of the season.
The Gators' bats struggled in the Show-Me State with just eight runs in three games.
It's clear Florida's offense is in a better place four weeks later.
