Champions League betting: Can Chelsea mount an improbable comeback at Real Madrid?

We will know the final four teams in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.

The second legs of the quarterfinals begin Tuesday afternoon as Chelsea attempts to come back against Real Madrid and Bayern Munich needs to make up a goal deficit to Villarreal. On Wednesday, Manchester City and Liverpool look to hold their first-leg leads after playing to a fantastic 2-2 draw in their English Premier League match on Sunday.

Unlike in the round of 16, teams know who they will face in the next round if they advance. The winner of Chelsea and Real faces the winner of Man City at Atletico and the winner of Villarreal and Bayern faces the winner of Benfica and Liverpool.

That means we’ve got a chance of seeing Manchester City and Liverpool for the Champions League title. That would be a fitting end to the season given the two teams appear to be the best in Europe. But they need to hold onto leads this week and then also take down fantastic teams in the semifinals to make that happen.

Here are the betting lines for Tuesday and Wednesday’s games. All odds are from BetMGM. The betting lines are only for the second legs of the two-leg ties. That means if you bet Real Madrid +150, you’re only betting Real to win Tuesday afternoon — not to hold onto its two-goal lead and advance to the semifinals. And remember, the away goals tiebreaker no longer exists. That means if a tie ends 3-3 and one team has two away goals and the other has one, the team with more away goals isn't in line to be the winner.

Real Madrid vs. Chelsea (over/under 2.5 goals)

Real Madrid leads 3-1 after first leg

  • Real Madrid (+150)

  • Chelsea (+165)

  • Tie (+260)

Karim Benzema scored a hat trick in the first leg. Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel hasn't been too optimistic publicly about his team's chances of overcoming a two-goal deficit on the road.

Bayern Munich vs. Villarreal (3.5)

Villarreal leads 1-0 after first leg

  • Bayern (-375)

  • Villarreal (+825)

  • Tie (+550)

Villarreal pulled off the most surprising win of the first set of semifinal matches. You can see that its odds of holding onto that lead are pretty high, however. Bayern will look to overwhelm Villarreal on home turf.

Atletico Madrid vs. Manchester City (2.5) [Wednesday]

Manchester City leads 1-0 after first leg

  • Atletico (+375)

  • Manchester City (-175)

  • Tie (+270)

Atletico was able to leave England trailing by just a goal. Can it nick two goals and keep City off the scoresheet? The odds of that happening look a lot more probable than Villarreal holding Bayern off. If Manchester City scores in the first 30 minutes on Wednesday, Atletico may be toast.

Liverpool vs. Benfica (3.5) [Wednesday]

Liverpool leads 3-1 after first leg

  • Liverpool (-375)

  • Benfica (+950)

  • Tie (+500)

This one should be pretty straightforward on Wednesday. Liverpool has one foot in the semifinals.
