'Chaco Portal' at Elmore Contemporary

Jul. 7—The 4-by-3-foot oil painting Chaco Portal is part of New Landscapes to Discover, an exhibition of New Mexico artist Steve Elmore's work that runs through September 4. An opening reception with Elmore is set for 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 7. Elmore, a Carlsbad native, worked as a photographer before returning to New Mexico in 1999 from New York City, citing a need to be closer to nature.
