CFP rankings: SEC teams in second College Football Playoff top 25 poll of 2023 season
With less than a month remaining until the four-team College Football Playoff field is decided, the weekly release of rankings from the playoff’s selection committee provides an increasingly clear picture of who will ultimately get the chance to compete for the sport’s most coveted prize.
On Tuesday night, we got another peek at how that might unfold.

One week after the committee’s first rankings of the 2023 season had two-time reigning national champion Georgia at No. 2, the Bulldogs again placed second in Tuesday’s unveiling on ESPN. So the Bulldogs' 30-21 defeat of then-No. 12 Missouri wasn't enough to enhance Georgia’s resume and allow it jump No. 1 Ohio State.
Indeed, the entire top eight of the CFP rankings remained pat, including No. 8 Alabama, whose 42-28 win over LSU (No. 19 in the latest rankings) did nothing to the Crimson Tide's ranking. Nick Saban's team remains one spot behind Texas, which represents the biggest remaining threat to Alabama's CFP hopes.
Ole Miss held off Texas A&M for a 38-35 win to move the Rebels up to No. 9 in the latest top 25 rankings. They have their biggest remaining test of the season against No. 1 Georgia, but the question remains: What would a win over the Bulldogs to their Week 12 ranking?
Tennessee moved up to No. 13 in the top 25, followed by Missouri at No. 14 and LSU at No. 19. They bring the SEC's total number of ranked teams to six in the second set of CFP rankings. Here's a look at the full set of College Football Playoff rankings heading into Week 11 of the season:
