BOSTON -- Doc Rivers tried to do a little politicking before Sunday's Game 7, and his former boss was having none of it.

In the leadup to the Boston Celtics' winner-take-all clash against the Philadelphia 76ers at TD Garden, Rivers addressed a report stating the Sixers were disadvantaged by more calls than Boston in Game 6 by calling out Thursday's officiating crew.

"It was disappointing to see, honestly," the Sixers head coach told reporters Sunday. "A 13-4 disparity in a one-point, two-point game, it's hard to recover from."

Doc Rivers claims refs gave Celtics an unfair advantage in Game 6

Celtics co-owner Wyc Grousbeck joined NBC Sports Boston's "Celtics Pregame Live" prior to Game 7 and had to respond to Rivers' complaint about the officiating.

"I've heard all this bitching about the refs now and I'm like, 'OK, really? Doc, you're better than that,'" Grousbeck said. "I love Doc. But let's send him home sad today."

Grousbeck and Rivers go way back, as Rivers was Boston's head coach from 2004 to 2013 and led the Celtics to a championship in 2008. But Grousbeck's sole focus Sunday was on getting past the Sixers, who have faced the C's in the playoffs more than any other NBA team.

"Philly is on my list," Grousbeck added. "There's two or three teams that I just really prefer to beat and Philly's one of them. That's all I've got to say."

The Celtics have won five straight postseason series over Philly dating to 1982, and they'll look to keep that streak going Sunday at TD Garden."
