Cathedral Prep's Jake Sambuchino among Erie-area boys basketball all-state selections
Cathedral Prep's boys basketball team was just one win away from competing for a state championship this winter and one of the stars of the Ramblers was rewarded by making the all-state team on Wednesday.
Case Western recruit Jake Sambuchino was named to the third team in Class 5A on the Pennsylvania Sports Writers All-State team.
In Class 4A, Franklin standout Damon Curry, a junior, was named to the second team, while Jamestown all-time scorer and Geneva recruit Cameron Keyser was named to the first team in Class 1A. West Middlesex 1,000-point scorer Richie Preston was named to the second team in Class 2A and Mercer 1,000-point scorer Jake Mattocks is on the third team.

The sports writers included a non-PIAA all-state team as well with three Keystone Academy players making the team. Former Cathedral Prep and SPIRE player Dellquan Warren made the first team, while Khali Horton, a member of the Prep state championship team in 2021, made the second team. Matar Diop, a senior for Keystone, made the third team.
