Are desert football fans giving enough credit to Cathedral City?

Only one team in the desert, the undefeated Coachella Valley Arabs, have a better record than the 4-2 Lions.

Well, Friday Night Hero voters have taken notice. The Week 6 Pocial Friday Night Hero winner is explosive Cathedral City star Rene Romero. It was a close race between Romero and Coachella Valley phenom Aaron Ramirez. Romero won the online poll vote and Ramirez won the Instagram vote, but after combining the votes, crunching the numbers and carrying the seven, it was Romero who came out on top.

And why not? He had the third-most rushing yards in Cathedral City history with 277 in a win over Twentynine Palms.

What he did: We love having kickers in the Friday Night Hero mix and when you nail a 36-yarder with a minute left to lift your team to a two-point win, that qualifies as heroic.
