Inland Lakes' Sam Schoonmaker voted Daily Tribune's Athlete of the Week for Feb. 26-March 2
INDIAN RIVER – Inland Lakes senior boys basketball player Sam Schoonmaker has been voted the Daily Tribune’s Athlete of the Week for Feb. 26-March 2.
Schoonmaker finished first by earning 40.83 percent of the vote, which beat out Cheboygan boys basketball player Gavin Smith, who recorded 27.22 percent of the vote. Voting began on Tuesday morning and closed on Thursday night.
Next week’s Athlete of the Week nominees will be revealed on Tuesday, March 12.

Gavin Smith, Cheboygan Boys Basketball – Scored 19 points in a district game at Kalkaska.
Sam Schoonmaker, Inland Lakes Boys Basketball – Led the Bulldogs with 28 points in the district final against Onaway.
Lucas Bergstrom, Mackinaw City Boys Basketball – Netted 35 points in a district win over Mackinac Island.
Andrea Ruppert, Onaway Girls Basketball – Scored 12 points in a victory over Mackinaw City.
Laith Griffith, Pellston Boys Basketball – Tallied 13 points in a district game against Alanson.
