Wolverine's Ashton Stewart voted Tribune's Athlete of the Week for May 6-11
WOLVERINE – Wolverine baseball player Ashton Stewart has been voted the Cheboygan Daily Tribune’s Athlete of the Week for May 6-11.
Stewart won this week’s poll by claiming 49.78 percent of the vote. Cheboygan girls soccer player Taylor Bent was second with 29.35 percent of the vote.
Voting began on Tuesday morning and closed at 11 p.m. on Thursday night.
Next week’s Athlete of the Week nominees will be revealed on Tuesday, May 21.
Here were this week’s nominees:
Taylor Bent, Cheboygan Girls Soccer – Netted a hat trick in a win over Roscommon and two goals in a win over Oscoda.
Brooklyn LaBrecque, Inland Lakes Softball – Finished with a double, a single and four RBIs in a victory over Mancelona.
Gracie Beauchamp, Mackinaw City Softball – Had two hits, including a double, knocked in a run and scored four times during a game against Pellston.
Trinity Splan, Onaway Track and Field – Earned fifth place in the discus and the East Jordan Invitational.
Sadie Keck, Pellston Softball – Recorded three doubles, a single and three RBIs in a victory over Mackinaw City.
Ashton Stewart, Wolverine Baseball – Pitched a solid five-inning game with four strikeouts against Atlanta.
