Cast your vote for Athlete of the Week!

STURGIS — It's time once again to vote for the athlete of the week.

These performances were taken from student-athletes last week. For what it's worth, the athletes up for the award this week happen to all be track and field stars. This was not the agenda going in to making the list this week, it just happened to come out that way. Make sure to check out the nominees for this week below in the story.

Rasean O'Tey was named Outstanding Athlete of the Meet on Friday for the boys.

Congratulations go out to Burr Oak's Brooklynn Root as she was voted the athlete of the week for a second consecutive week last week. She piled up 47.38 percent of the total votes cast last week, picking up the win over Jennaya Decker of Three Rivers, who was the closest competitor and certainly put up a fight for the award with 40.34 percent of the total votes cast.

DONE DEAL: Sturgis track teams claim Wolverine Conference titles

You can vote for the athlete of the week in the above poll. There is no limit on the number of times you can vote, so go right ahead and pile up those votes if you want to. Here are the nominees for this week:

White Pigeon boys secure conference crown

Jordan Pisco, White Pigeon — Pisco has been a staple of success for White Pigeon track this season. This past week, he won three events at the SW10 Championships (110, 300 hurdles and the high jump). Then at the Constantine invite, Pisco won the 110 hurdles and the high jump plus helped the mile relay claim first place.

Josh Davidson, White Pigeon — Davidson ran to first place at the SW10 Championships in the 400. He also sparked the Chiefs to first place in the 800 and mile relay runs at the championships as well. Davidson followed that up with a win in the 400 at the Constantine invite on Friday. Once again, he placed first with his teammates in the 800 and mile relays.

Ellie Miller, Centreville — Miller was unstoppable at the SW10 Championships last week. She placed first overall in the 100 and 200 dashes plus helped lead Centreville to first place in the 800 relay. Her leap in the long jump was good enough to win by a foot as well. Miller also won the long jump at the John Green Relays held on Friday, leaping to first at 15-9.5 feet.

Centreville girls win SW10 team title

Kailee Jones, Constantine — Being on her home track helped Jones at the Constantine invite on Friday. Jones competed in three events and ran to first place in each one. She paced the field in both the 800 and mile runs as an individual and helped the mile relay team win by almost 10 seconds.

Keyanna O'Tey, Sturgis — O'Tey has been setting records for Sturgis all season. On Friday, she ran to first place in all four of her events at the Wolverine Championships. She was named most outstanding female athlete of the meet in winning the 100 and 200 dash plus the 400 and 800 relays. All four races set new conference records for times in those events.

Rasean O'Tey, Sturgis — Rasean won his second most outstanding athlete award at the Wolverine Championships on Friday. He ran to first place in the 100 (10.95 seconds), the 200 (22.36 seconds) and ran to first place with his teammates in both the 400 and 800 relays for the Trojans.

(Good luck) Keeping up with the O'Teys, Sturgis' sprinting duo
