Carthage's Pugh shines in recent win

Feb. 7—When Carthage defeated Carl Junction 59-50 on Tuesday night at Carthage High School, it got a boost from Dylan Pugh.

Pugh scored all 14 of his points in the second half and got 11 of them in the fourth quarter to help the Tigers hang on for the victory.

He made four 3-pointers in the game and gave the Carthage fan base a glimpse of what they saw for multiple seasons from another Pugh. That would be Dylan's older brother Joel, who graduated in 2022.

Joel is currently a sophomore at Ozark Christian College in Joplin. In 31 games last year, he averaged 16.9 points per game and was averaging 15.4 through 16 games this year prior to breaking his hand in a game.

As a member of the Tigers, Pugh was known for his ability to knock down the outside shot, the same as his younger brother did on Tuesday night. So much so that Joel became the program's all-time leader in 3-point baskets with 183 until that record was broken this year by senior Justin Ray.
