Keys to the game
Quarterback Bryce Young was good—but his supporting cast, once again, simply was not. His receivers had trouble gaining separation downfield and his offensive line allowed nearly 20 pressures and four sacks.
After a step forward in the backfield last week, the Panthers couldn’t find much traction on the ground either. Chuba Hubbard and Miles Sanders combined for 73 yards on 29 rushing attempts (2.5 yards per carry).
Tennessee, however, did find their groove on their ground. Running back Derrick Henry paced the Titans offense, going for 76 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 18 totes.
It was over when . . .
Down a touchdown with just under three minutes remaining, the Panthers took over at their own 20-yard line with a chance to tie. But, as was the case all afternoon, that chance proved to be extremely slim for the struggling offense.
Carolina turned the ball over on downs after just four plays, a possession that ended on a pass to wideout DJ Chark at the line of scrimmage that went nowhere.
