Major League Baseball mandated updates and consistent standards for ballparks across the minor-league system in a proposal that first surfaced late in 2020.

The Chiefs are part of that subsequent agreement, and last season upgraded the lights at Dozer Park, putting in an LED system that includes multiple colors and flashing capabilities. They also built a women's locker room, in part to serve the growing presence of female umpires.

This just-completed off-season included more renovations, some of which fans won't see.

Chiefs GM Jason Mott said the team built new kitchens and dining areas for both home and visiting teams, expanded the laundry facilities and created a new video/meeting room. Dozer also got new padding down the right field and left field lines to cover up the concrete walkways.

Next up, Mott says, is an extension of protective netting. The support poles for the netting system need to be manufactured. The new nets, once installed, will extend down the foul lines to the outfield corners. They will also have the ability to lower portions of the netting during breaks so staff can entertain fans with giveaway items that get tossed into the grandstand.
