Cardinals activate Zach Ertz from PUP

It was an expected move but the Arizona Cardinals get tight end Zach Ertz back. After he was cleared to return to football work, the Cardinals announced Tuesday he was activated from PUP (physically unable to perform list), meaning he was eligible finally to practice.

The plan is to work him in over the next three-plus weeks to have him ready to play in the season opener

Ertz tore his ACL and MCL last season in Week 10.

What is the plan now?

“We’ve got to be smart about it,” said offensive coordinator Drew Petzing on Tuesday. “I think a lot of that, we’re going to rely heavily on the training staff and his ability to tell us where he is at and how he feels, and take it slowly and make sure he’s ready to go but the time he hist game day.”

We should not expect to see him in any preseason action. He won’t be ready for Saturday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs and he wouldn’t play in the preseason finale.

An offer for Cardinals fans
