Cara Delevingne Bares All—Include Her Psoriasis—At The Met Gala

  •  Cara Delevingne made a bold statement this week, showing up to the 2022 Met Gala topless with her psoriasis on full display.

  • The model has spoken openly about her skin condition in the past, and although the majority of her upper half was covered in gold paint, she did not paint over two psoriasis patches on her elbows.

  • Kim Kardashian and LeAnn Rimes have also spoken about their struggles with psoriasis.

Cara Delevigne is getting some serious props after she strutted Monday’s Met Gala red carpet with her skin condition on full display.

The model-actress hit the scene and made a statement in a chic, red, tailored Dior jacket and pants. She was baring all, including her top half, which was completely nude except for gold paint and some pasties. One key thing that didn’t get covered up? Cara’s elbows, which revealed her psoriasis patches.

Cara clearly made an active decision not to cover up her psoriasis, providing us all with a moment of humanity amid the glittering, glamorous evening. And people were all over it on social media.

In case you’re not familiar with it, psoriasis is a disease that causes red, itchy, scaly patches of skin that form on the knees, elbows, trunk, and scalp, per the Mayo Clinic. It can often be misdiagnosed as a skin rash, eczema, or even ringworm, according to Psoriasis.org.

The condition is actually an incurable autoimmune disease that causes the body to send incorrect signals that speed up cell growth in affected areas, the site explains. And it is pretty common, affecting up to 7.5 million Americans!

Cara, 29, has opened up about her psoriasis in the past. She previously told W that she tends to get flare-ups when she’s stressed or nervous. “It only happened during Fashion Week!” she said. “Which is, of course, the worst time of the year for me to be covered in scabs.”

Cara said that supermodel Kate Moss was a huge help to her after seeing her patches get painted over during the Louis Vuitton show. She “got me a doctor that afternoon; Kate gives really good advice," Cara told W.

She's certainly not the only celebrity to struggle with the condition: Kim Kardashian and LeAnn Rimes have also spoken about their own experiences with psoriasis, too. Psoriasis is thought to have a possible genetic link, and Kim Kardashian shared on Poosh that she remembers her mom, Kris, struggling with it while she was growing up, too.

Cara has made it clear that she’s not trying to hide her psoriasis. In fact, she's pretty blunt about it. In 2013, she tweeted: “Just to reiterate, I have psoriasis and it leaves [scars] and I will have for the rest of my life.”

Everyone loves a confident queen! 👏
