CAPE COD HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Barnstable football ends season unbeaten on home turf

The Barnstable High football team will enter the postseason next week with a 7-1 record after they beat Old Rochester 43-7 on Friday night and remain unbeaten (4-0) at home. Quarterback Aiden Kundel finished 14-for-20 for 140 yards and two touchdowns, while adding three carries for 74 yards and another touchdown. Tajardo France carried the ball 11 times for 73 yards and caught two passes for 34 yards and a touchdown, while Chevaunie "Chevy" Shakespeare rushed twice for 11 yards, and had six receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown. Darrent Thomas had a fumble recovery score, while the team defense had a safety and three defensive touchdowns.

Football

Nauset 40, Falmouth 0: The Warriors (1-6) ended the regular season with their first win. Brendan Peno led the way with three touchdowns (two rushing, one passing), while Logan Daniels Julian rushed for two more scores. Evan Archer had an interception, while Isaiah Robinson had a 34-yard receiving touchdown.

Sandwich 22, Rockland 19: After trailing 12-0, the Blue Knights (4-4) came back to win their regular season finale with 38 seconds left in the game. Adam Ferreira ran for 36 yards and a touchdown, and threw for 56 yards, while Owen McElroy ran for 78 yards and two touchdowns. The defense was led by Nolan Cochran, Jack Bateman, Kaike Perera, Steve Trombly and Jack O'Brien with four tackles each.

Monomoy 20, St. John Paul II 14: The Sharks (3-5) snapped a three game slide with a victory over the Lions (2-6).

Somerset Berkley 56, Dennis-Yarmouth 33: The Dolphins (6-2) lost their second game of the season, with both coming on the road.

Bourne 49, Atlantic Charter 12: The Canalmen (6-2) will enter the postseason as the hottest team on Cape Cod with four straight wins.

Carver 40, Mashpee 16: After a five-game win streak, the Falcons (5-3) lost their last two games of the regular season.

Girls Soccer

Rising Tide 2, Dennis-Yarmouth 0: The Dolphins (1-16-2) finished their season with a home loss.

Boys Soccer

Upper Cape 1, St. John Paul II 0: Gio Haga broke the tie with an assist from Lucas Sherman for the Rams' (14-2-2) regular season finale win. Manny DeOliveira had multiple shots that barely missed the net, and two hit off the post. Liam Barton, keeper Shawn Murphy, Jacoby "The Machine" Staruski, Tyler Weston, Lucas Sherman and Gideon Drury all played well on defense for the Rams.

Archbishop Williams 2, Bourne 0: The Canalmen (2-13-2) fell short on the road. Mike Dankert played well in the midfield, Quinn Moriarty had two shot attempts, and Frank Greul and Max Ridl combined for three crosses in the box.

Dennis-Yarmouth 3, Rising Tide 2: The Dolphins (6-9-2) finished their season winning two of their last three games.

Girls Volleyball

Nantucket 3, St. John Paul II 0: The Whalers (12-7) swept the Lions (12-6) in straight sets (25-16, 25-18, 25-13). Rosanna Sullivan had three kills and 18 digs, while Caitlin McGrail added one ace, one kill and 10 digs for the Lions. Zlata Alioshka contributed a kill, nine assists, and five digs, while Molly Pulit chipped in seven digs.

Dennis-Yarmouth 3, Nauset 0: The Dolphins (11-8) ended the regular season with a sweep (25-15, 25-14, 25-18) over the Warriors (5-14) on Senior Night. Senior captains Ellen Swanson (seven kills, five aces, 13 digs), and Meghan Burlingame (two kills, one ace, six digs) each contributed in the victory.

Falmouth 3, Sandwich 2: The Clippers (10-10) beat the Blue Knights (8-10) on their Senior Night in five sets (18-25, 25-17, 20-25, 25-22, 15-6). Christina Femino led the way with seven digs, four kills, and 37 assists, while seniors Jaylynn Fernandez (four aces, eight digs) and Delia Roulston (four aces, 16 digs) also contributed.

Field Hockey

Sandwich 8, Middleboro 0: Khloe Schultz finished with a hat trick and two assists for the Blue Knights (17-0-1) as they remain unbeaten. Quinn Jordan scored twice, while Julia Giampietro, Alivia Barnes, and Sadie Clarkin each added a goal.

Hingham 2, Falmouth 1: Avery Johnsen scored the lone goal with a helper from Makeena Metcalf for the Clippers (10-5-3).

Barnstable 3, Notre-Dame Academy-Hing 0 (forfeit): The Red Hawks (13-3-2) won their fifth straight game by way of a forfeit from NDA.

Plymouth North 2, Nauset 1: The Warriors (4-10-3) ended their season with a close loss on the road.
