Canton outscores OFA on Senior Wrestler Night
Feb. 1—Canton put together its best outing of the season to outscore OFA 38-30 in the Blue Devils Senior Night match on Tuesday.
Before the match, in an impressive ceremony. Coaches Bill Mitchell and Zach Sweeney honored five seniors and family members in Baxton Kendall, Jack Hunter, Collin Brenno and Marko Skamperle who are all planning to enter the military after graduation Romen Cooksey who has already entered the work force.
The OFA coaches also honored Canton's seniors Nicholas Moquin, Logan McCord, Jack Joyce, Charlie Rossner, Chase Bandy and Thi Quelle Vanguilder.
In a match staged on Wednesday Gouverneur remained undefeated with a 72-6 win over Malone.
The Bears prevailed in the match by winning five of the last seven matches with Aiden Bartholomew who won by injury default at 152, Graham Rozler, Charlie Rossner and Quelle Vanguilder who recorded pins at 160, 190 ans 280 and Lyndon Weng who decisioned Marko Skamperle 13-6 at 215.
OFA's (4-2) wins in the match came on pins by Collin Brenno at 145 Astryn Grenier at 138 and Cayne Trimm at 170 and forfeits to Kierce Whitney at 116 and Beau Friot at 101.
Gouv 72 — Malone 6: The Wildcats prevailed with pins coming from James Minckler, Turner Sochia, VanDavian Way, Drew Gates, Tucker Nichols, Holden Stowell, Hannah Sochia, Tuffy Griffith and Mason Dusharm. Liam Hart's pin accounted for the Malone points.
