Canandaigua's Chapman reaches career scoring milestone in Section V girls basketball
Canandaigua varsity girls basketball player Kyleigh Chapman joined an exclusive club on Tuesday night.
With a 3-pointer with under three minutes remaining in the Gray Wolves' contest against Brighton, Chapman became the 10th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points.
Canandaigua won the game 49-42.

Chapman's milestone is the latest in a decorated career. She was named seventh team all-state in Class A for 2022-23 after helping Canandaigua reach the state championship game.

As a junior, Chapman averaged 12.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. She's bumped those averages to 17 points and 10 rebounds per game in 2023-24.
Canandaigua (9-5) is currently ranked No. 14 in the New York State Sportswriters Association rankings. The Gray Wolves are currently riding a four-game winning streak, which includes a 58-51 victory over Monroe County league rival Hilton (currently No. 7 in the Class AA rankings) on Jan. 16.
