Caldwell men's basketball opens Region 10 play

Jan. 11—Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute men's basketball team opened up Region 10 D-1 play with two road victories on Friday and Saturday.

With the two victories, the Cobras have now won nine games in a row, and Caldwell has not lost since falling to Indian River State 126-120 on Nov. 26.

The Cobras (14-1 overall, 2-0) defeated Wake Tech 85-81 in Raleigh on Friday evening.

Caldwell pulled ahead 45-37 at the end of the first half, while Wake Tech outscored the Cobras 44-40 in the second half.

However, it was too little too late as Caldwell walked away with the win.

Caldwell also captured a 97-71 victory against Richard Bland College on Saturday afternoon in South Prince George, Va.

In a somewhat close first half, the Cobras led 39-30 going into halftime before outscoring the Statesmen 58-41 in the second half to pull away for the win.

In Friday's game against Wake Tech, Pharrell Boyogueno led the Cobras in scoring with 16 points. Cincere Scott added 14 points, while Brandon Morgan and Trevur Smalls each scored 13 points in the victory.

Against the Statesmen on Saturday, Caldwell was led in scoring by Chris Nobles with 23 points. Morgan and Smalls each scored 16 points in the victory.

The Cobras will have their first home game in more than a month on Dec. 13 when they welcome Region 10 D-1 opponent Brunswick Community College to Hudson for a 3 p.m. tipoff.

Caldwell's last home game was on Nov. 29, when the Cobras defeated Catawba Valley Community College 115-86.
