Cincinnati Bengals 27, Buffalo Bills 10: Final score, recap, highlights from playoffs

The Buffalo Bills first game against the Cincinnati Bengals this month was billed as the biggest game of the NFL season.

This one has even more hype.

No. 2 seed Buffalo hosts No. 3 seed Cincinnati in the AFC Divisional Round at 1 p.m. Sunday at Highmark Stadium. The winner will face the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game.

The Bills have won eight straight games and the Bengals are on a nine-game winning streak.

Final score: Cincinnati Bengals 27, Buffalo Bills 10

Buffalo's season ended in the AFC Divisional Round for the second straight year. The Bills were outplayed in all three phases, plus coaching, and were manhandled by the Bengals. Cincinnati gained 30 first downs and didn't turn the ball over. Joe Burrow was 23 of 36 for 242 yards and two touchdowns and Joe Mixon ran for 105 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries. Josh Allen completed 25 of 42 passes for 265 yards with an interception and rushing touchdown. He led the team with 26 yards rushing.

'Who Dey' chants take over Highmark Stadium

Some Bills fans began leaving for the exits after the Bengals went up 27-10 and now Cincinnati fans chanting "Who Dey" are making the loudest noise at Highmark Stadium.

Cincinnati continues to overpower Buffalo - 2:32 4th quarter

The Bengals took over at their 16-yard line with 7:23 left. Samaje Perine ran for 2 yards, Buffalo burned its second timeout, Perine broke free for 11 yards and the Bills used their third timeout. Joe Mixon was stopped for 1 yard on a carry and then burst ahead for 7 yards. He earned another first down with a 3-yard run on third-and-2. Perine got three straight carries for a total of 9 yards and the Bills finally got a stop. The Bengals lined up to go for it on fourth-and-1 but guard Cordell Volson committed a false start. Drue Chrisman punted 46 yards to the Bills' 10.

Buffalo turns ball over on downs in red zone - 7:23 4th quarter

Buffalo gets the ball down three scores in the fourth quarter. Josh Allen opened with a 32-yard completion to Dawson Knox. Two plays later, Allen connected with Cole Beasley for 11 yards. Then the Bills nearly turned it over. Allen was sandwiched as he tried to throw and the ball went airborne and was recovered by defensive end Trey Hendrickson. It was initially ruled a fumble recovered by the Bengals but the play was reversed to an incomplete pass. Allen briefly went into the blue medical tent but ran back on the field and didn't miss a play. Allen scrambled for 6 yards and Knox made a catch for 6 yards and a first down. Allen completed to Devin Singletary for no gain, had his second-down pass batted at the line and offensive tackle Spencer Brown was flagged for a false start to set up third-and-15. Singletary took a short pass 9 yards and on fourth-and-6, Allen threw incomplete for Gabe Davis.

Cincinnati can't punch it in from 2-yard line, kicks field goal - Bengals 27, Bills 10

Joe Mixon took a catch-and-run 13 yards to midfield on the final play of the third quarter. Mixon took a physical run 9 yards to open the fourth quarter and rushed for 3 yards on a first down. Burrow passed to Ja'Marr Chase for 8 yards on the ensuing play. Burrow's second-down pass went threw defensive end Boogie Basham's hands. On third down, Tre'Davious White was called for pass interference on a deep pass along the left sideline for Tee Higgins. White and safety Jordan Poyer collided heads on the play and both defensive players stayed down. Poyer threw his helmet down as he walked into the blue medical tent. The penalty put the ball at the Bills' 4-yard line. Burrow ran for no gain on first down and he threw incomplete for Hayden Hurst on second down. Joe Mixon rushed up the middle for 2 yards on third down. Evan McPherson made a 20-yard field goal. White and Poyer headed to the locker room and are being evaluated for head injuries.

Buffalo goes three-and-out - :02 3rd quarter

The Bills started from their 12-yard line after a holding penalty on Quintin Morris. Josh Allen threw incomplete deep for Stefon Diggs, completed to Isaiah McKenzie for 8 yards and then Gabe Davis had a deep ball knocked out of his hands by Cam Taylor-Britt. Sam Martin punted 43 yards to the Bengals' 37.

Joe Mixon punches in 1-yard touchdown - Bengals 24, Bills 10

Cincinnati started with a 4-yard run by Joe Mixon and Joe Burrow scrambled 9 yards for a first down. Burrow connected with Ja'Marr Chase for 11 yards and then hit Tee Higgins for 11 yards. The Bengals converted a first down when Hayden Hurst took a short pass and hurdled Bills safety Jaquan Johnson past the first-down marker for 13 yards. Mixon rushed for 7 yards, Joe Burrow took a sneak up the middle 2 yards and Mixon ran for 13 yards on third-and-1. Bills cornerback Tre'Davious White was called for pass interference on first-and-goal to give Cincinnati the ball at the 1-yard line. Mixon ran for no gain on first down. On second-and-goal, Buffalo was called for too many men on the field and then defensive tackle Jordan Phillips was flagged for encroachment. Mixon was stopped at the line of scrimmage again on second down and the Bengals challenged the spot of the ball. The play was reversed to a touchdown.

Bills cut into deficit with field goal - Bengals 17, Bills 10

Nyheim Hines returned to second-half kickoff 24 yards to the Bills' 28. Devin Singletary ran for 3 yards up the middle and Stefon Diggs gained a first down with an 8-yard catch. Singletary took back-to-back carries for 6 yards and 7 yards for another first down. Josh Allen evaded a rush and completed to Khalil Shakir for 17 yards to the Bengals' 31. Allen scrambled for 2 yards and 6 yards to set up third-and-2. Allen ran for 3 yards and a first down on his third straight rush. Stefon Diggs beat Eli Apple on a double move but Allen's pass was incomplete on first down. Diggs collided with a media member and the wall out of bounds and went to one knee as he was looked at by trainers. He walked off the field and into the blue medical tent. On second down, Allen completed over the middle to Cole Beasley for a first down to set up first-and-goal. James Cook lost 2 yards on first down, Nyheim Hines made a catch for 4 yards on second down, and Allen's pass for Dawson Knox was incomplete on third down. Tyler Bass made a 25-yard field goal.

Halftime score: Cincinnati Bengals 17, Buffalo Bills 7

Buffalo has weathered the storm. Cincinnati jumped out to a two-touchdown lead but the Bills answered and get the ball to open the second half. The Bengals have doubled up the Bills in total yards with a 274-135 advantage. Joe Burrow has completed 18 of 27 passes for 186 yards and two touchdowns and Joe Mixon has 55 yards on nine carries for the Bengals. Josh Allen is 10 of 17 for 111 yards along with a rushing touchdown for the Bills.

Bengals choose not to run clock out - Halftime

Cincinnati decided not to run the clock out from its 9-yard line. Joe Burrow completed to Samaje Perine on three straight plays for 11, 5 and 7 yards. Burrow scrambled for 21 yards to the Bills' 44 yard-line and spiked the ball with three seconds remaining. His Hail Mary fell incomplete on the final play of the half.

Bills can't double-dip before halftime - :40 2nd quarter

Buffalo started possession with 1:49 left in the second quarter and also gets the ball to start the second half. The Bills earned a first down on a 9-yard catch by Dawson Knox and then Josh Allen completed to Gabe Davis along the left sideline for 25 yards. That's where the drive stalled. Allen's first-down pass was batted at the line, and Allen threw back-to-back incompletions to Devin Singletary and Stefon Diggs. Buffalo elected to punt on fourth-and-10 from the Bengals' 41-yard line. Sam Martin punted 32 yards to the Bengals' 9.

Joe Burrow began with short completions to Samaje Perine and Hayden Hurst for a total of 10 yards. Joe Mixon went off left guard for 11 yards and after an incompletion completed to Hurst for 18 yards. Burrow followed it with a 9-yard pass to Mitchell Wilcox and Perine got the first down with a 7-yard run. On first-and-10 from the Bills' 20, defensive end A.J. Epenesa pressured burrow and forced an incompletion. Mixon ran for 6 yards on second down. Cincinnati called a timeout and Burrow completed to Ja'Marr Chase for 8 yards to the Bills' 6. Mixon only gained 1 yards on first-and-goal. Burrow was pressured on second down and threw the ball away. Offensive guard Jackson Carman was called for a false start on third down. On third down, Burrow threw a perfect ball to Ja'Marr Chase in the back of the end zone for what was initially ruled a 10-yard touchdown. After a review, the play was reversed to an incompletion. Evan McPherson made a 28-yard field goal.

Josh Allen rushes for 1-yard TD as Buffalo offense comes to life - Bengals 14, Bills 7

Buffalo had 8 yards in the first quarter but came out in no huddle to start the second quarter. Josh Allen fired to Stefon Diggs for 16 yards, scrambled for 4 yards and then completed to Gabe Davis for 9 yards. Diggs made a 7-yard reception and Cole Beasley picked up a first down with an 11-yard catch to the Bengals' 32. Allen threw the ball away on first down and James Cook ran for 8 yards on second down. Cook ran for 1 yard up the middle on third down. Buffalo went for it on fourth-and-1 with Allen sneaking for 2 yards for a first down. Offensive guard Ryan Bates was flagged for offensive holding but the Bills got the yards back. Cook ran for 4 yards and Allen completed to rookie Khalil Shakir for 23 yards to the Bengals' 4. Devin Singletary ran for no gain on first down, Allen rushed 3 yards to the 1-yard line and Allen ran for the 1-yard touchdown. The Bills went 75 yards in 7 minutes, 39 seconds.

Bengals punt for first time - :06 1st quarter

Joe Burrow's first incompletion was on a drop by tight end Mitchell Wilcox on first down. Bills cornerback Dane Jackson replaced rookie Kaiir Elam on the drive and got a pass breakup on second down. On third down, Burrow completed to Trenton Irwin for 13 yards. Tyler Boyd couldn't make a one-handed catch as he was defended by cornerback Taron Johnson on the next play and Joe Mixon carried for 3 yards. Burrow was sacked by linebacker Matt Milano on third down. Drue Chrisman punted just 28 yards to the Bills' 25.

Bills go three-and-out again - 2:11 1st quarter

Buffalo still hasn't gained a first down. Devin Singletary ran for 3 yards, James Cook rushed for 2 yards and Josh Allen was pressured on third down. Cincinnati got to Allen with a three-man rush and hit him from behind. Allen was able to get the ball out for an incompletion before he was sacked or fumbled. Sam Martin punted 51 yards and Trent Taylor returned it 13 yards to the Bengals' 32.

Joe Burrow throws TD to Hayden Hurst - Bengals 14, Bills 0

Joe Mixon ran for 5 yards on first down and then found a huge hole for 16 yards. Joe Burrow threw to Tee Higgins for 6 yards and Samaje Perine rushed for 4 yards and a first down. Higgins made a first-down grab for 11 yards. Burrow completed short passes to Ja'Marr Chase and Perine and the Bengals faced a third-and-3. Burrow was sacked by Boogie Basham for a 9-yard loss but Basham was called for defensive offside to give Cincinnati a first down. Three plays later, Burrow found an open Hayden Hurst for a 15-yard touchdown. Burrow has started 9 of 9 for 105 yards and two touchdowns.

Bills go three-and-out on first drive - 10:02 1st quarter

Buffalo went three-and-out on its first possession. Josh Allen completed short passes to Isaiah McKenzie and Stefon Diggs to set up third-and-4. Allen overshot Diggs on a deep pass on third down. Sam Martin's 53-yard punt was returned 12 yards by Trent Taylor. The Bengals will start from the Bengals' 29-yard line.

Joe Burrow throws TD to Ja'Marr Chase - Bengals 7, Bills 0

Cincinnati received the ball first and went 78 yards in six plays for a touchdown. Joe Burrow completed to Ja'Marr Chase for 7 yards and two plays later completed to Tyler Boyd for 23 yards to the Bills' 45. Joe Mixon sprinted ahead for 10 years, Burrow passed to Hayden Hurst for 7 yards and then stepped up in the pocket for a 28-yard touchdown pass to Chase.

One of the greatest quarterbacks of all time is in the house to watch two of the best quarterbacks of today. Peyton Manning and his son, Marshall Manning, are at the game and it's clear who Marshall is rooting for. The younger manning was on the sidelines before the game wearing a Josh Allen jersey. Allen and Burrow were counselors as teenagers at the Manning Passing Academy.

Weather for Bills vs. Bengals playoff game

It's snowing for kickoff. It is 34 degrees at 3 p.m. Snow is expected to continue throughout the game. A Special Weather Statement issued by the National Weather Service in Buffalo expired at 4 p.m. That alert calls for widespread snow over western New York with visibility down to a mile.
