Browns select Myles Garrett first overall

As the selection officially came in, Browns fans worldwide let out of collective sigh of relief as all the speculation surrounding the first pick fades away.

Garrett was widely perceived to be the best player in the draft. He’s been compared to Julius Peppers and has been talked about as having the same kind of ceiling as a legend like Lawrence Taylor.

Garrett stands at 6’4’’ and 272 pounds, with an athleticism that dominated the SEC offensive lineman he played against for years. His pass rushing ability can fill a much needed hole in this Browns defense, who finished 30^th in the league last year with only 26 sacks. Garrett finishes his collegiate career with 32.5 career sacks, which is the seventh most in the SEC history.

Garrett’s raw athleticism sets him above the rest of the competition. He measured a 41 inch vertical at the combine, the same height as rising Falcons star Vic Beasley. With Garrett on the line, the Browns pass rushing ability should markedly improve.
