Brown football wins in OT; Rhode Island loses in OT; Bryant routs Robert Morris

PROVIDENCE — Jake Willcox connected with Mark Mahoney for the tying touchdown in the final minute of regulation, Nate Lussier threw the winning TD pass in overtime, and Brown defeated Princeton, 28-27, on Saturday.

The Bears (3-2, 1-1 Ivy League) trailed, 21-7, in the fourth quarter before Stockton Owen scored on a 1-yard run and Willcox threw to Mahoney for a 50-yard touchdown to tie it with 53 seconds left.

Princeton scored first in overtime on a 21-yard pass from Blake Stenstrom to Tyler Picinic, but the Tigers missed the extra point. Brown won it when Graham Walker caught a 4-yard TD pass from Lussier and Christopher Maron converted the extra point.

Willcox went 34-of-55 passing for 353 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Mahoney caught eight passes for 146 yards. Owen had 69 yards rushing.

Princeton (2-3, 1-1) built its 21-7 lead on the strength of a 37-yard touchdown run by Ja'Derris Carr, a 47-yard pass from Blake Stenstrom to AJ Barber and a 1-yard run by John Volker.

Stenstrom completed 20-of-38 passes for 198 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Carr had 76 yards rushing.

Rhode Island loses to Richmond

SOUTH KINGSTOWN — Nick DeGennaro had a career-high 132 yards and two touchdowns on six catches to spark Richmond to a 25-17 win over Rhode Island on Saturday at Meade Stadium.

DeGennaro, who set career-highs of eight catches for 113 yards and three touchdowns a week earlier, put the Spiders up for good with his 69-yard catch-and-run with Camden Coleman for a 14-10 lead midway through the second quarter. The duo also had a 12-yard score on the game's opening possession.

Coleman was 13 of 25 for 194 yards with two interceptions for the Spiders (4-3, 3-1 Coastal Athletic Association) and Savon Smith ran for 80 yards.

Backup quarterback Kyle Wickersham led a 65-yard drive and scored the clinching touchdown on a 6-yard run with 4:47 to play.

After taking a 10-7 lead late in the first quarter, the Rams' next two possessions ended with a pair of lost fumbles, giving them three turnovers before halftime. They had three punts and a missed field goal before Kasim Hill scored on a short run with less than two minutes to play.

Rhode Island used its third timeout while forcing a three-and-out and got the ball on its 15 with 50 seconds to play. The Rams reached midfield before a Hail Mary pass in the end zone was knocked down by D'Angelo Stocker as time ran out.

Hill also connected with John Erby for a 32-yard TD for the Rams (4-3, 2-2). Hill was 29 of 50 for 367 yards and six receivers had between 53 and 82 yards.

Richmond also had six sacks, three by Jeremiah Grant.

Bryant runs over Robert Morris

SMITHFIELD — Zevi Eckhaus passed for three touchdowns and ran for another score, Simi Bakare added two rushing TDs and Bryant beat Robert Morris, 43-24, on Saturday.

Eckhaus threw a 21-yard TD pass to Jalen Powell to open the scoring, Maximus Villar tackled Cyrus Bonsu in the end zone and Eckhaus scored on an 11-yard run in the first quarter and Eckhaus hit Gary Cooper for a 4-yard touchdown to give Bryant (3-3, 1-0 Big South-OVC) with 10 minutes left in the first half.

Anthony Chiccitt threw a 15-yard TD pass to DJ Moyer about 2 minutes later and then capped a 13-play, 92-yard drive with a 6-yard scoring run that trimmed the deficit to 22-14 at halftime but Javin Dames caught a 6-yard TD pass from Eckhaus midway through the third and Bakare added fourth-quarter touchdown runs of 1 and 8 yards.

Chiccitt completed 12 of 21 passes for 117 yards for Robert Morris (2-5, 0-2). The Colonials lost three fumbles.

Eckhaus finished 22-of-36 passing for 283 yards and gained 86 yards rushing on six carries.
