Broncos signing WR Phillip Dorsett to practice squad

Story update: The Broncos are signing Phillip Dorsett to their practice squad, not the active roster. See our original post below.

The Denver Broncos are signing free agent wide receiver Phillip Dorsett, according to a report from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Because he is a veteran with more than four years of experience, Dorsett (30) was not subject to the NFL’s waiver wire on Wednesday after being cut by the Las Vegas Raiders on Tuesday.

Dorsett (5-10, 192 pounds) entered the league as a first-round pick out of Miami with the Indianapolis Colts in 2015. He later spent time with the New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks, Jacksonville Jaguars and Houston Texans before joining the Raiders earlier this year.

Dorsett played two games with Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson while playing for the Seahawks in 2021, catching one pass for three yards.

In his career, Dorsett has totaled 151 receptions for 2,001 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Dorsett becomes the fifth wide receiver on Denver’s roster, joining Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims and Brandon Johnson.

The Broncos will have to make a corresponding roster move to make room for Dorsett on the 53-man roster.
