Broncos will find out May 4 if they’re playing in London this season

Story update: The Broncos will play in London this year, the NFL announced Wednesday. See our original post below.

The Denver Broncos will find out if they will play in London this fall when the NFL announces its international schedule on Wednesday, May 4.

Well, technically, Broncos fans will find out Wednesday — the team has likely already been informed of the league’s decision.

Denver is a candidate to play a “road” game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, who have already been announced as a “home” team for a game in England this year.

If the Broncos are picked to face the Jaguars in England, the game will be played in October at Wembley Stadium. Denver would still play all eight home games at Empower Field at Mile High.

The Broncos were previously scheduled to play the Atlanta Falcons in London in 2020 but that game was moved stateside due to COVID-19. Joe Ellis, the team’s president and CEO, has been campaigning since then for another opportunity to play in the United Kingdom.

Denver is also a candidate to play a future game in Mexico. First things first, though, the league will announce Wednesday morning if the Broncos are scheduled to play in London this fall.

Denver’s complete schedule will be announced on Thursday, May 12.
