Broncos fire HC Nathaniel Hackett ahead of Week 17 tilt with Chiefs

The Denver Broncos announced that they have relieved HC Nathaniel Hackett of his duties ahead of the Week 17 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

This comes following season-long struggles from Hackett’s Broncos, but it boiled over due to an embarrassing blowout loss against the Los Angeles Rams on Christmas Day. Tempers flared on the sideline between several players and it forced the hand of the new ownership group in Denver.

Hackett finishes his 15 games with the Broncos with a 4-11 overall record and an 0-1 record against Kansas City.

The Chiefs will be facing an interim coach in Week 17. Denver has not yet named an interim coach, but our friends at Broncos Wire have some options. The goal of this interim coach will be salvaging the final two games of the regular season, starting with their upcoming game with Kansas City.

Andy Reid was speaking with reporters as the news on Hackett was announced, explaining that some dramatic changes could be coming for their opponent. They’ll have to be prepared for anything and all possibilities on offense, defense and special teams in Week 17.
