Sheffield United come back to claim point at 10-man Brighton

Sheffield United is off the bottom of the table, coming back from an away deficit to draw floundering 10-man Brighton and Hove Albion 1-1 at the Amex Stadium on Sunday.

The Blades forced a late Brighton own goal after Mahmoud Dahoud was sent off, canceling out Simon Adingra's early goal to split the spoils.

Brighton and Hove Albion's Premier League season is stuck in a rut, and Roberto De Zerbi's men haven't won in the Premier League since a 3-1 home defeat of Bournemouth on Sept. 24.

While Brighton's swept Ajax and drawn away at Marseille during Europa League play, the Seagulls' six-match winless run includes losses to Aston Villa and Man City plus draws with Liverpool, Fulham, Everton, and now Sheffield United.

Sheffield United, meanwhile, just ended a three-month wait for a Premier League win via a dramatic late home win over Wolves and now has five points. That's one more than Burnley but four points off 17th place.

Brighton's still eighth with 19 points.

The international break. Then Brighton goes to Nottingham Forest at 10am ET Saturday, Nov. 25, the same time Sheffield United entertains Bournemouth in a huge six-pointer.

Mahmoud Dahoud sent off

The Brighton man tried to get away with one, and was caught.

Mahmoud Dahoud saw his teammate Billy Gilmour harshly tackled by Ben Osborn, and runs his cleats down the Blades' man's calf in reclaiming the ball (blading the Blade, if you will).

There's no hesitation in the red. Now Gilmour has to come off for Carlos Baleba as the Seagulls will have to hold on for a point.

Brighton vs Sheffield United halftime analysis: 1-0

There's fight in the Blades team, but not much quality to get on the scoreboard.

Sheffield United has managed just two shot attempts, 0.08 xG, and 28% of the ball.

Roberto De Zerbi's men will only be bothered that their lead is 1-0, coming off a monopolistic share of possession while putting four of six shot attempts on target.

It's the for the Blades to stay in the game, but they'll need the ball to get it in the goal. That's logic.

Simon Adingra takes the ball on the left flank and overcomes one physical challenge before bursting toward the box.

Adingra lays off for Facundo Buonanotte and darts into the 18, taking the ball back with his trail leg and then cutting the ball past Wes Foderingham.

Very nice stuff. Roberto De Zerbi jumps into the seats behind him to celebrate with Seagulls supporters.
