Jack Wilshere is a doubt for Arsenal's Premier League trip to Brighton on Sunday afternoon.

The England midfielder missed Thursday's 3-0 home defeat to Manchester City with a minor ankle issue and could also sit out the game on the south coast.

Nacho Monreal (back) and Alexandre Lacazette (knee) are also absent as manager Arsene Wenger admits he is likely to make changes with one eye looking ahead to the Europa League trip to AC Milan.

Provisional squad: Ospina, Cech, Holding, Mustafi, Chambers, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Bellerin, Nelson, Kolasinac, Maitland-Niles, Xhaka, Elneny, Wilshere, Ramsey, Ozil, Iwobi, Mkhitaryan, Welbeck, Aubameyang, Nketiah.

What are they saying?

Chris Hughton:

"I think most managers sitting here would say the say, when you are playing against a team with the stature of Arsenal who are on the back of back-to-back defeats, it doesn't happen often and what they want is a reaction," he said.

"We have to take care of our business but most would say it is the worst time to play them, they will want a reaction."

Arsene Wenger:

"I think it was a game with a team of top quality and full of confidence against us who were low on confidence," the Arsenal boss said.

"I knew before the game the first half would be difficult for us after what happened on Sunday and we needed at least to be level at half-time.

"They took advantage of our lack of confidence. We're going through a difficult period, they're going through a period where all goes well for them.

"When your confidence is not at the best, the first thing that goes is your fluidity in the movement, the spontaneous side of the game.

"You could see that tonight. I don't deny their quality because they have top quality, but we're going through a difficult patch at the moment. That's part of football as well unfortunately."

What are the odds?

  • Brighton win - 16/5

  • Arsenal win - 17/20

  • Draw - 13/5

What's our prediction?

Arsenal's away record has been dreadful but it may still be a relief not to be at the Emirates Stadium this weekend. Seven defeats in less than eight weeks has left Arsene Wenger's future under huge scrutiny and they are facing a Brighton team who are currently on a six-match unbeaten run.

Jeremy Wilson's prediction: 1-2
