Brewers opening day pushed back to Friday due to inclement New York weather
The Milwaukee Brewers season opener against the New York Mets has been postponed from its originally scheduled Thursday date, with significant rain in the forecast.
The game will instead be played Friday, which was initially scheduled as an off-day, with games to follow Saturday and Sunday in New York. First pitch Friday is slated for 12:40 p.m. CT.

More: 76 wins? Fourth place? The Brewers, whose expectations haven't changed, scoff at those notions.
The Brewers haven't lost an opening-day game to rain in recent years, but the 2020 and 2022 seasons both featured postponed openers because of the COVID-19 pandemic and work stoppage, respectively. The 2000 season-opening contest in Cincinnati, marking the first game for new manager Davey Lopes, ended in a 3-3 tie when rain stopped the game in the sixth inning; the two teams started fresh the following day.
The forecast for the rest of the weekend calls for partly sunny skies and high temperatures in the 50s.
