Brevard athletes head to FHSAA state track and field this week

FHSAA state track and field begins Wednesday with the Class 1A championship, followed by 2A on Thursday and then 3A Friday and 4A Saturday.

Cocoa hurdler Tavon Simmons-Roberts has qualified in both hurdle events: the 110 meters and the 400. His 110 time of 14.24 from last week's Region 2-2A meet ranks him as the No. 6 performer from all classes this season.

"Probably the Cape Coast (Conference meet) is where I really started opening up my season with really fast times," Simmons-Roberts said. "And just from there Cape Coast, to district, to regionals; that's where I started to keep it going, and I'm really grateful I was able to execute."
