Brevard 2023 FHSAA regional baseball matchups
Regional baseball play begins Tuesday in the state, with the winners advancing to regional semifinal games on Friday and Saturday.
Seven area teams made the postseason. Three — Viera, Eau Gallie and Merritt Island — earned regional quarterfinal berths as district champions and will host games this week.
Five teams play Tuesday and would advance to Friday games with wins. Two teams, Brevard's largest schools, play Wednesday, against each other, and the winner will play again Saturday.
Regional championships are May 15-16, and the state tournament returns to Ft. Myers, beginning May 17.

Region 2-6A
No. 7 Melbourne (16-8) at No. 2 Viera (20-5)
Wednesday, 7, USSSA Complex
This is a rematch not only of a game played this season but last week in the District 8-6A final, won by the Hawks, 5-2. The teams split regular season games. Viera won in early March, 4-2. Melbourne won near the end of the month, 7-2. The home team won every game.

Region's No. 1 seed: George Jenkins (21-6)
Region 4-5A
No. 7 Rockledge (18-8) at No. 2 American Heritage (16-6)
Tuesday, 7, Plantation
The Raiders finished as the District 13 runner-up after leading Eau Gallie, 2-0, on Thursday night. American Heritage was a Region 4 finalist last season.
Winner plays: Pembroke Pines-Eau Gallie winner
Region's No. 1 seed: Archbishop McCarthy (22-5)
Last week: MI, EG, Viera win baseball titles on Thursday
No. 6. Pembroke Pines (13-11) at No. 3 Eau Gallie (19-8)

The Commodores were the Class 5A state runners-up last season.
Winner plays: Rockledge-American Heritage winner
Region 2-4A
No. 7 Villages Charter (14-14) at No. 2 Merritt Island (22-3)
Tuesday, 7
The Mustangs won the District 8-4A championship over Satellite on Thursday. Villages Charter was a Class 3A state semifinalist last season.
Winner plays: Dunnellon-Bishop Moore winner
Region's No. 1 seed: North Marion (22-5)
No. 5 Satellite (15-7) at No. 4 Hernando (22-4)
Tuesday, 7, Brooksville
Satellite finished as the District 8-4A runner-up to the Mustangs. Hernando was a Region 2 finalist in 2022.
Winner plays: Nature Coast Tech-North Marion winner
Region 3-3A
No. 8 Cocoa Beach (5-15) at No. 1 North Broward Prep (23-4)
Tuesday, 7, Coconut Creek
The Minutemen upset second-seeded Holy Trinity and top-seeded MCC to win the District 10-3A tournament. North Broward Prep is the defending 3A champion.
Winner plays: St. John Paul II-Coral Springs Charter winner
