Will Brennan, Mike Zunino homer as Guardians beat Red Sox

Will Brennan and Mike Zunino each hit home runs to support starter Shane Bieber, and the Guardians beat the Boston Red Sox 5-2 Friday night at Fenway Park.

Zunino hit a towering home run that just cleared the Green Monster in left field in the fourth. In the ninth, with the Guardians leading 4-2, Brennan ripped a ball down the right field line and wrapped it around Pesky's Pole.

Bieber allowed two earned runs on five hits and two walks and struck out four in seven innings. Trevor Stephan escaped an eight-inning jam in which the Red Sox had the go-ahead run at the plate by striking out Rafael Devers and retiring Triston Casas to end the inning.

Emmanuel Clase earned the save in the ninth.
