Breaking: FOX retains and expands Big Ten football and basketball media rights

FOX has not only retained their investment in Big Ten football and basketball but is expanding it. The network announced on Thursday its new deal with the Power Five conference and it is good news for fans of the Big Ten and college sports in general.

FOX, which holds a percentage of the Big Ten Network, will continue to be the flagship for the conference. In this new media rights deal. FOX will now air more Big Ten football across their multiple platforms (FOX, FS1 and the Big Ten Network) as well as adding late slots for UCLA and USC when the two Los Angeles schools join the conference in 2024.

In addition, the FOX platforms will air over 200 college basketball games.

“Today we extend our long-standing media rights partnership with FOX to ensure that our fans will be delivered exciting Big Ten football, women’s and men’s basketball, Olympic sports, and creative conference storytelling across FOX, FS1 and BTN,” Big Ten Conference commissioner Kevin Warren said in a statement 

“We deeply value the special relationship that our conference has with the outstanding team at FOX Sports, specifically Eric Shanks, Mark Silverman and Larry Jones, who have consistently worked to strengthen and grow the Big Ten Conference brand across the nation.”

In addition, four of the next seven conference championship games will air on FOX. In addition, the platform from FOX will have access to more upgraded games for the game of the week slots.

“Commissioner Warren’s leadership and vision have resulted in the growth and recent market expansion of the Big Ten Conference. In an ever-evolving landscape, the Big Ten remains the most storied collegiate athletic conference in the country.”
