PEORIA — The Bradley Braves are among an array of college basketball teams in the chase for Dennis Scott III, the son of a former NBA player.

The 6-foot-10, 235-pound high school senior says he has received an offer from the Braves. He visited Peoria in August, one month after he announced the school had made an offer.

Scott III is the son of Dennis Scott Jr., who led Georgia Tech to the NCAA Tournament all four of his years there, was the ACC Player of the Year in 1990, and the fourth overall pick in the NBA Draft, by Orlando, in 1990.

Scott Jr. played 629 games and averaged 12.9 points per game in a 10-year NBA career, mostly with Orlando. He was general manager of the American Basketball Association's Atlanta Vision, and is an NBA commentator for Turner Sports. He was inducted into the Orlando Magic Hall of Fame in March.

The former NBA player's son, Dennis Scott III, is a senior at Mount Vernon Presbyterian School in Atlanta. He was named "Player of the Game" eight times last season for a 23-9 team. He has averaged 13.4 points per game on 44% shooting from the field, with 8.6 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 42 career high school games.

Scott III has offers from Bradley, Indiana, Howard, Harvard, George Mason, Georgia Tech, Fort Valley State, Radford and Loyola (Md.).
