Bradley Beal rolls ankle against Knicks, proving the Suns are cursed

Bradley Beal rolled his ankle in the first quarter against the Knicks on Friday night at Footprint Center, proving what longtime Phoenix fans already know: The Suns are cursed.

Trade for Kevin Durant? He gets hurt in warmups.

Got an opportunity to win a title in 7 seconds or less? Robert Horry hip checks Steve Nash into the scorer’s table.

Get Charles Barkley? He has to beat Michael Jordan.

Start a new franchise and have a chance to draft Lew Alcindor? Lose a coin flip.

To be fair, it’s not just the Suns.

The Cardinals had a Super Bowl title in their beaks but lost to the Steelers. Santonio Holmes was out of bounds. The only people who didn’t see it that way were the referees.

The Mercury were a title contender, and the Brittney Griner was locked up in Russia over a vape pen.

ASU football has a Heisman Trophy caliber quarterback? How about a pandemic and a scandal?

What about UA basketball? Sean Miller and Deandre Ayton had to fight off pay-for-play allegations that derailed the season.

The longer you’ve been in town, the more you know and believe that Arizona sports teams have some seriously bad karma.

The Suns have it worst of all, of course.

They put together the best Big 3 since Detroit got Ford, GM and Chrysler, but these guys just can’t get together.

The extent of Beal’s injury won’t be known for a while, but would anyone be surprised if he’s out until Valentine’s Day?

This injury is a real problem. Championship teams need time to gel. That can’t happen in the film room or on the practice court.

And I know that Phoenix will have Booker, Beal and Durant for the next couple of years, but this team was built to win now.

These guys need to figure out the root of this curse and make amends.

Maybe Beal can come back with a ketchup packet in his sock?

Maybe the need to do something with the goats that were in Ryan McDonough’s office?

I don’t know, but I do know what every other diehard Phoenix fan knows: The Suns are cursed.
