All about Micah: Life lessons will continue at the next level

Share something about you that most people don't know.

Most people probably don’t know that I really love tennis.

Do you have plans for the fall?

I plan to play basketball at Williams College in Massachusetts, where I’m thinking about majoring in economics and possibly doing some concentrations in technology. I’m really proud to have received an offer from Williams; I get the best of both worlds there. It’s the No. 1 liberal arts college in the nation and only accepts 9% of its applicants. It also has some of the toughest competition being in the (New England Small College Athletic Conference).

What do you believe is the world's greatest invention?

Bluetooth. I think it’s just a revelation in itself that you can privately listen to music anytime or wirelessly connect devices just through low-radio frequencies.

Has basketball taught you any lessons you use in daily life?

Basketball has taught me that struggle is growth. When you start to think about it this way, it makes every activity seem more rewarding and makes you an exponentially stronger person in the process.

If you could travel to any country, where would you go?

I would visit the United Arab Emirates, specifically Dubai, because everything seems so luxurious and it is the cleanest country in the world. I also want to go quad biking in the desert.

Winning games and bonding in San Antonio

What has been your favorite basketball memory?

My favorite high school basketball memory was our San Antonio tournament this past November. It was the most fun I’ve ever had with my team, and I think this was the time that we all realized that we really mesh with each other. We also went 4-1 and got to go to Six Flags after.

Whom do you consider Bowie's biggest rival?

I’d say our school’s biggest rival is Westlake. We’re both the only teams competing for a first-place spot in our district right now for girls basketball.

What is your favorite thing to do in a game?

My favorite thing to do in a game is to get my teammates open off of a seemingly unopen pass. I think that when you can thread a pass through traffic that no one else is expecting and get a teammate an open shot, it’s the best feeling.

Dream dinner: One-on-one with Allen Iverson and Erykah Badu

If you could have dinner with any four people in the history of the world, who would they be?

I'm going to say Allen Iverson, Shakespeare, my (late) granddad and Erykah Badu.

Why Erykah Badu?

I would really like to talk about the production and specificity of her music. Badu is my favorite artist, and I would love an in-depth conversation about how she actually finds music to sample and how she flips her tracks. As popular as she is, there isn’t much on the internet that highlights how much of a genius she is because her most notable music was released in the ’90s.
