Bournemouth 2-1 Everton: Slumping Toffees without a win in 12

Everton's three-and-a-half-month wait for a Premier League win goes on following a 2-1 loss to Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.

Dominic Solanke gave the Cherries a second-half lead and Beto answered for the Toffees, but a Seamus Coleman own goal in stoppage time deprived the Toffees of an away point.

Sean Dyche's Everton leave the game on 25 points, three clear of 17th-place Forest and 18th-place Luton Town, but they have not won a Premier League match since beating 19th-place Burnley on Dec. 16.

Bournemouth move onto 38 points, 16 clear of the bottom three and virtually assured of another Premier League season.

What a difference a Dominic makes

Two Dominics, both English strikers, both born in 1997, and having very, very different campaigns.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is three seasons removed from his 16-goal post-lockdown star show, and it looks like his confidence is even further away from him. The Toffees striker hit a terrific chance at Neto and has not scored since October, snake bit and devoid of the swagger that saw him paint the leaderboard a few seasons ago.

Dominic Solanke, on the other hand, can hardly miss this season and very much the reason that Bournemouth is going to play in the Premier League next season. The 26-year-old thumped home the equalizer in this one and he's legitimately in frame for a surprise Golden Boot. Form can come and go but finishing touch shouldn't just disappear and Solanke will be dreaming of what's next following a stop-start career as a big-time prospect for Chelsea and Liverpool.

The difference between Dominics is largely why the Cherries are safe and Everton still waiting to exhale.

USMNT’s Tyler Adams very good but involved in controversy

Fotmob says Tyler Adams — not stadium-awarded Lewis Cook — is the Man of the Match from this Bournemouth win and it's difficult to deny the USMNT man.

Perhaps it's that Adams was let off the hook by the referee and VAR for a possible penalty-worthy foul on Dominic Calvert-Lewin, because there weren't any other feet put wrong by the American in this first Premier League start for Bournemouth.

Adams was buzzing all over the center of the park during his 90 minutes, creating a chance and winning 8-of-11 duels. Effective in all thirds of the pitch, Adams combined with Cook to allow the Cherries in front of him the freedom to attack Everton.

Everton go to Newcastle at 2:30pm ET Tuesday, while Bournemouth entertain Crystal Palace 15 minutes later.

Tyler Adams dodges penalty

Dominic Calvert-Lewin goes down in the box and the replay shows that Tyler Adams could be in trouble.

The American midfielder got a piece of Calvert-Lewin's leg in the box and not just a bit of it, but remarkably VAR doesn't appear to want a look at it.

Tyler Adams tries to win a penalty just before half and it really might've been called on another day. Key word there is try, and it was pretty obvious.

Pretty even in terms of the numbers and the overall look of this game.

Seven total attempts, four to Bournemouth, while Everton is edging xG and has just over half of possession.

Andre Onana and Dominic Solanke are on yellow cards, a key piece for each team to watch in the second 45.

Huge save by Neto as DCL still ice cold

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has a lot of net but decides to go near post, where Neto is ready to parry the ball.

It should've been 1-0 to the Toffees, as Calvert-Lewin remains on just three goals this season. He last scored on October 29 at West Ham. Oof.

Slow going at the start as USMNT’s Adams not rusty

Bournemouth has shown some danger with the ball and a willingness to let fly, taking four shots in the first 20 or so minutes, but the ball has largely been with Everton.

The pitch is providing some problems. Tyler Adams looks good in his first Bournemouth start, paired with Lewis Cook in the 2 of a 4-2-3-1.

In defense and midfield Everton are very settled but it's at the other end of the pitch where they have problems. Beto has started the last few games as Dominic Calvert-Lewin's drought continues but DCL could come back in for this game. Dyche has to find some kind of spark in attack if the Toffees are going to pull themselves further clear of the relegation zone.
