The Boston Marathon is Monday, April 15 - who are the local runners?

Monday, April 15 is Patriots' Day, a state holiday in Massachusetts, when the 128th annual running of the Boston Marathon will take place. The 26.2-mile trek from Hopkinton to Boston will feature nearly 30,000 athletes from more than 100 countries.

Even if you are one of those people who only runs when someone is chasing you, you might want to follow a friend, neighbor or professional who is running. You can track your runner from the B.A.A. website, or by downloading the B.A.A. Racing App, which is available for both Apple and Android platforms. You can also sign up for alerts on the progress of your favorite runner.

How long is the Boston Marathon? The distance remains the same, but your times may vary

There are 10 athletes from Greater Gardner who are running. The Wave/Corral category indicates the runner's approximate start time. Runners in Wave 1 will wear red bibs and start at 10 a.m. Runners in Wave 2 will have white bibs and start at 10:25 a.m. Wave 3 runners have blue bibs and start at 10:50 a.m., followed by the runners in Wave 4, who will have yellow bibs and start at approximately 11:15 a.m.
