Bob Huggins, ex-West Virginia and Cincinnati head coach, participates in WVU Senior Night
Former West Virginia University Mountaineers head coach Bob Huggins participated with his wife, June, in WVU's Senior Night ceremony Wednesday night in Morgantown.
One of the players, Jesse Edwards, told reporters after the game that he and his teammates asked Huggins to be there.
Huggins, the University of Cincinnati Bearcats' head coach from 1989 to 2005, announced his resignation and retirement from WVU last year after a DUI arrest in Pittsburgh, and later retracted his resignation and demanded his reinstatement in a letter to the university from his attorney.
Huggins was on hand at WVU Coliseum when the Mountaineers rallied past the Bearcats in January.
Social media reactions to Huggins taking part in Senior Night:
There was a surprising development on Senior Night as Bob Huggins and his wife June were quietly part of the ceremony, filling in for Kerr Kriisa and Jesse Edwards parents. No announcement, no recognition to the crowd, but the seniors all went and hugged the former coach.

In May 2023, Huggins made disparaging remarks about Xavier University and used a homophobic slur in referring to XU fans during an interview with Bill Cunningham on WLW-AM (700).
