Minor league baseball teams to wear Nordiques, North Stars inspired jerseys (Photo)

Quebec Capitales

It’s been a long time since the Quebec Nordiques and Minnesota North Stars were representing their respective cities in the NHL. The Nords moved on to Colorado in 1995 and the North Stars became the Dallas Stars in 1993, but the memories of both franchises live on.

Two minor league baseball teams are reviving the Nords and North Stars looks for one game during “Soiree Hockey!” Wednesday night.

The CanAm League’s Quebec Capitales will play an inter-league game against the St. Paul Saints of the American Association. When they take the field, the Capitales will sport baseball jerseys with the Nordiques theme, while the Saints will wear the colors of the North Stars.

In the years since the franchises moved, the love for their glorious jerseys has never left the hearts of hockey fans. Vintage gear can be found very easily online. The writer of this post owns a shirt of each team. How can you not love the fleur-de-lis or the green, yellow and white color scheme of the North Stars that brings back memories of a mulleted Mike Modano?

Time for more minor league baseball teams to do the same. Imagine the Kansas City T-Bones as the Kansas City Scouts? Or the Lake County Captains as the Cleveland Barons? Or what about the Gwinnett Braves as the Atlanta Thrashers, Ultimate Warrior face paint jerseys and all?
