Virginia Tech QB Logan Thomas takes a vicious hit, leaves game (GIF)
Virginia Tech quarterback Logan Thomas suffered a neck and shoulder injury during the first half of the Sun Bowl after UCLA linebacker Jordan Zumwalt hit him hard and left him sprawling on the turf.
Zumwalt was assessed a 15-yard personal foul penalty.
Thomas, who had just trucked UCLA linebacker Myles Jack, rolled left and got rid of the ball right before Zumwalt hit him. Medical staff attended to Thomas and he walked off the field under his own power. The injury occurred early in the second quarter and Thomas did not return before half. He was, however, up and watching the game from the sideline as Mark Leal took over the quarterbacking duties.
