Nick Saban laments about the loser of the SEC title game being knocked out of the BCS

Alabama coach Nick Saban was a little upset during his Sunday teleconference when he was asked about Florida playing in the Sugar Bowl instead of the loser of the SEC title game between Alabama and Georgia.

The winner of the SEC championship will earn the coveted spot in the BCS title game to play Notre Dame. The loser will likely fall behind Florida in the BCS standings, which would make Florida the first choice for the SEC's automatic spot in the Sugar Bowl. The loser would likely play in the Capital One Bowl.

"It's not really a great scenario," Saban said Sunday. "You play your way into the [SEC] championship game, which means you're the best team in your division… It doesn't seem quite right, but it is what it is. I don't really know what me commenting about it is going to do to change it. But I don't feel good about it."

Upon hearing Saban's comments, Florida coach Will Muschamp didn't exactly feel sorry for the coach of the nation's No. 2 team.

"Well, I can switch and go to Atlanta if he doesn't want to go to Atlanta and play the Dawgs," Muschamp said. "Be careful what you ask for, Nick."

Florida likely will move up to No. 3 in the BCS standings after either Alabama or Georgia drop out. With two losses, there would be little chance either team would stay ahead of the Gators.

While Saban might be upset about the fate of the SEC title game loser, I think most teams would take the risk of missing a BCS bowl for a possibility of playing in a national championship.
