Lea Michele Thanks Kate Hudson for Helping Her Through Cory Monteith’s Death
Three and a half months after Cory Monteith's shocking death, Lea Michele is speaking out — and she's got a lot to say. In an interview with Elle magazine, the "Glee" star revealed the surprising friend she leaned on during the media-frenzied days following her boyfriend's passing.
"I called [Kate Hudson] and I said, 'I don't know where I'm going to go because my house is swarmed [with reporters]," she shared. And it seems Hudson was quick to help.
"She was like, 'Oh, you're going to stay at my house.' Like it was nothing. No one knew I was there,'" Lea explained before adding, "She let my family stay there, and any of my friends. She made sure that in the refrigerator were my favorite juices. I'll never really be able to thank her, truly, for what she did for me."

Despite Hudson's support and comfort, the 27-year-old thesp admitted she's still reeling from this dark period in her life.
"I never thought I would be in this position in my whole life," she said. "Now that I am in this position, you can choose to rise, and that's what I'm going to try to do. I know that Cory would want nothing more than for me to take this situation and use it to help people."
But rising up isn't necessarily easy when you're in the spotlight. One month after she lost her love, Michele made her first public appearance and stepped up to deliver a tearful acceptance speech at the Teen Choice Awards. "I promise, that with your love, we're going to get through this together. He was very special to me, and also to the world, and we were very lucky to witness his incredible talent, his handsome smile, and his beautiful, beautiful heart."

Without a doubt, her recovery from that loss is not complete. "It's very hard," she lamented. "And you have to be very strong to come out of this alive, but I think by doing the best for myself, by showing that you don't have to lose yourself, maybe someone else will feel some sort of strength of comfort."
Even though she's still healing from this devastating time, Lea looks like she's taking things in stride. Various shots from Elle's photo spread show the Broadway vet with a bit more edge. Thick black eyeliner, thigh-high cut-out boots, and a barely-there cropped sweatshirt are just the beginning. Posing with a vintage Camaro and a smoldering stare, the brunette beauty looks more ready to attack someone than burst into song.

It's as if, in one photo shoot, we've said goodbye to Rachel Berry. But it will no doubt take us all a while longer to say goodbye to Cory.
