Blake Cooper, brother of Ray Cooper III set for September ONE Championship debut

The younger brother of former PFL champion Ray Cooper III is set to make his debut under the ONE Championship banner.

In his first fight with the promotion, Hawaii’s Blake Cooper (2-0 MMA, 0-0 ONE) will face Switzerland’s Maurice Abevi (6-1 MMA, 0-1 ONE). The lightweight bout takes place at ONE Fight Night 14 on Friday, Sept. 29, at Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore, and airs live on Amazon Prime Video. ONE Championship confirmed the news of the booking to MMA Junkie.

Cooper, 26, is undefeated in his young career, having won both of his professional bouts by stoppage. In a pair of wins last year, he submitted Soslan Margiev at Cage Warriors 133 in March, and then recorded a TKO stoppage against Kaipo Cabanting at Destiny MMA in September.

Abevi, 23, brings an experience edge into the contest, and will be looking to rebound from the first loss of his pro career, which came in his ONE Championship debut in April. Prior to his unanimous decision loss to Halil Amir, Abevi stopped his first six professional opponents in the first or second round.

ONE Fight Night 14 features three women’s title bouts across grappling, muay Thai, and MMA disciplines. The headlining bout will be an interim women’s atomweight title bout between Stamp Fairtex and Seo Hee Ham.

The current ONE Fight Night 14 lineup includes:

  • Stamp Fairtex vs. Seo Hee Ham – for atomweight title

  • Smilla Sundell vs. Jackie Buntan – for strawweight muay Thai title

  • Danielle Kelly vs. Jessa Khan – for inaugural atomweight grappling title

  • Xiong Jing Nan vs. Nat Jaroonsak – special rules bout

  • Blake Cooper vs. Maurice Abevi
