Birmingham Bowl: Troy and Duke headed to Protective Stadium. Date, time, TV, ticket info

The 2023 Birmingham Bowl will feature an in-state team in Troy from the Sun Belt versus Duke from the ACC, according to a social media post from the ACC.
The Trojans (11-2) are coming off their second straight Sun Belt Conference title game win at home on Saturday. Duke (7-5) has had an up-and-down season that has featured wins over Clemson, Northwestern and NC State, but a loss to Virginia and a shutout defeat at the hands of Louisville, but competitive losses to North Carolina and Florida State.
This is the 17th Birmingham Bowl, which has been played since 2006. The 2022 Birmingham Bowl saw East Carolina beat Coastal Carolina, 53-29.
The trophy for the game resembles the Vulcan statue that resides on a mountain overlooking the city. The game will air on ABC, something that Troy and coach Jon Sumrall doesn't take for granted, along with the opportunity to face off against a major-conference opponent.
"ABC covers premier sporting events, it's obviously connected to ESPN in the same broadcast group. It's an exciting opportunity for our kids. To play on one of the major networks in ABC and to play a Power Five opponent. To be able to play a little bit later game than most of our teams normally get to play is nice," Sumrall said.
