Bills’ Von Miller declines weekly interview following arrest

Despite a poor season by the high standards set throughout a career that will likely end in the Pro Football Hall of Fame one day, Buffalo Bills pass rusher Von Miller has typically spoken to the media each week prior to upcoming games.

Until Thursday.

According to the AP, Miller decline an opportunity to be interviewed this week ahead of facing the Kansas City Chiefs (8-4). Miller said “not today” to local media.

His decision has little to do with a trip to Kansas City, though.

On Nov. 30 during the bye week for the Bills (6-6), the 34-year-old had a warrant issued for his arrest relating to a domestic abuse incident in the Dallas area. The accusation reportedly came from Miller’s pregnant girlfriend.

Miller turned himself in a short time later and faces an assault of a pregnant person charge which is a third-degree felony.

While Miller did not speak on the matter, general manager Brandon Beane did.

Beane said Miller is available to play against the Chiefs on Sunday.

“We had our conversations with Von and understood what he believes happened and so from that standpoint, we can’t get into it,” Beane said via video conference. “It’s an open investigation. And so, we’ll just let the legal process play out and he’ll participate like normal in practice.”

Bills Wire will provide updates regarding Miller’s status leading up to kickoff in Kansas City.
