Bills’ Rasul Douglas: ‘I came here to play and make plays’
The Buffalo Bills traded for Rasul Douglas because of his playmaking abilities as a defensive back.
Douglas knows that and plans to deliver for his new team.
The Bills (5-3) landed the 28-year-old in a deal with the Green Bay Packers just ahead of the 2023 NFL trade deadline.
After acquiring him, general manager Brandon Beane cited Douglas’ skills at attacking the ball as a reason why he targeted him.
“Takes the ball away,” Beane said via video conference. “When he went to Green Bay, the light turned on for him. Started to turn it over, make big plays. He’s very instinctive.”
“[The trade] wasn’t easy. It was back-and-forth. Green Bay did not want to lose him. It took a couple of days. I called on him even last week–They were not planning to do it, but we finally made it attractive enough,” Beane added.
After the taking the practice field for the first time in Buffalo, Douglas commented on the trade for the first time. What he said must have been music to Beane’s ears.
“I came here to play and make plays for this organization. That’s really my focus,” Douglas said.
